Cust Costs - Collect the Samples Yourself
When you are collecting samples you need to include all the layers. The adhesives, paint, other flooring, etc.
Collet a piece at least 1" square to test.
Cut the sample from the top layer through to the last layer.
Write down what materials make up the layers of the sample.
Each layer is considered one sample.
Layer examples include adhesives, flooring backing, vinyl tile, flooring and its glue, fire curtains, base flashing, roofing felt and roofing, decorative plaster, gaskets, acoustical plaster, fire doors, spackling compounds, caulking or putties etc.
Cut out a sample, label the zip lock bag with a sample number, then write down all the layers to be tested.
Number your samples if more than one sample is sent for testing. Each layer must be listed on the Chain of Custody these include; flooring backing, vinyl tile, flooring and its glue, fire curtains, base flashing, roofing felt and roofing, decorative plaster, gaskets,
acoustical plaster, fire doors, spackling compounds, caulking, putties and more.
Place the 1" inch sample in a ziplock bag, then list the layers contained in the sample and tape the list to the outside of the baggie. See photo.
Complete a form for processing the asbestos samples. Use sample numbers that coincide with the numbering
you have used on the bagged samples. Questions? We are here to help.
